PRODUCT FIT

Choose the insert

Compare paperboard, corrugated, EVA and molded-pulp options around the actual product.

Check: contact points, packed weight, removal method and required support.

Compare insert materials

Keep structure and material separate. The rigid shell uses greyboard with a selected wrapping paper. Finish, thickness and inserts are reviewed for your dimensions and contents; a foldable rigid structure is different from a paperboard folding carton.

Compare Rigid Box Shipping Volume Before Choosing a Structure

Ask for the packing specification for both an assembled rigid box and a suitable foldable rigid option. A flat delivery format can change empty-box storage and shipping volume, but the benefit must be checked against the actual packing method and assembly work.

Check the shipping pack

Compare units per outer carton, carton count, external carton dimensions and gross weight. Confirm whether inserts travel inside each box or in separate cartons.

Review assembly at destination

For a foldable rigid structure, review the folding sequence, adhesive areas, setup space and finished opening action. Use an assembled sample to check product fit and the closure.

Compare the same order

Use the same quantity, product fit, insert requirement and destination when comparing quotes. Include the assembly and protective packing requirements; a smaller empty-box pack does not by itself establish the lowest delivered cost.

XLY can review the structure and packing proposal together so the quotation reflects how the boxes will be supplied and used.

Greyboard And Wrapping Paper

  • Greyboard thickness is confirmed around the finished box size, product weight and structure.
  • Wrapping options can include printed paper, kraft paper, specialty paper and textured paper where suitable.
  • Paper, coating and adhesive choices need to match the artwork, crease, wrapping method and intended use.

Inserts And Product Fit

  • Options can include EVA, flocked EVA, paperboard, corrugated, molded pulp and other suitable solutions.
  • The insert must be reviewed around product dimensions, weight, contact points and removal method.
  • Not every material or insert is suitable for every product, structure or market requirement.

Sampling, Production And Quality Checks

A physical sample is recommended when product fit, opening action, insert performance, color or premium finishing is important.

Customer approval and factory production checkpoints are separate: the approved sample and artwork define the reference, while in-process and final packing checks verify production against that reference.

See Factory & Quality Control.
